CIS of Randolph County brings diverse performing artists to local schools each year. These visiting artists have included storytellers, brass ensembles, an African drumming and dance troupe, Latino percussionists, among others. These performances are funded through the United Way of Greater High Point and the Randolph County Arts Guild Grant program with a pass thru grant from the North Carolina Arts Council.
A musical highlight each year is the Community Concert in the Archdale-Trinity area, featuring the area schools’ third graders in a shared repertoire of songs presented in concert in a local church. This event brings together families from the AT area whose are asked to bring canned goods to benefit the local non-profit COAT. (Community Outreach of Archdale-Trinity). In the fall of 2018, over 500 were in attendance at the concert with over 600 canned items collected to be given back to the community.
Beginning in March of 2020, all in-school performances were curtailed with the onset of a worldwide pandemic. We are so grateful to Donna Washington, John Claude Bemis and the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte for brining wonderful artistry to our students virtually!
